Starting salaries range from $45,000 to $85,000, depending on the size of the organization and level of experience.
Hands-On Experience
We want to help students build their level of experience. Our program encourages students to use real-world problems as the basis of class projects, especially the capstone project that culminates the program. As we learn of internship opportunities, we share them with our students.
Job Search
If students lack experience in the field of critical infrastructures, we encourage them to do research and informational interviewing, especially during the first 1 to 1.5 years of the program, as a prelude to, and part of, their job search. Program staff, faculty, and advisory board members are available to provide feedback on the job search process, and the UW Career Center is available to students as well.
Alumni
Often, alumni are drawn to particular courses within the program. This interest leads them to choose a related career direction. Others find that the degree gives them the credential they need to make a career change they already had targeted. Still others credit the degree with helping them earn promotions with their existing employers.
